Ken Rogers was Assistant Director General with Education Queensland from 1997 to 2007. During this time he was successful in implementing a number of initiatives across a range of portfolios which impacted positively on all state schools in Queensland.
From 1997 to 2000 Ken provided administrative and educational leadership to district directors and principals across 12 newly established districts mainly in rural and remote Queensland.
Between 2000 and 2002 Ken worked with Professor Allan Luke and Professor Roger Slee on major curriculum reforms such as New Basics and literate futures across all Education Queensland state schools.
From 2002 until 2005 Ken was responsible for the development and implementation of a school review and accountability framework [SIAF] which was mandated for all state schools [over 1200 schools] in Queensland.
Between 2005 and July 2007 Ken established a Student Services Directorate within Education Queensland. His role involved providing a strategic co-ordinated whole of government approach to policy service development and delivery across state government agencies with respect to child safety, behaviour support and the provision of specialist services to students. He established a seamless client focussed service system that met the needs of children and young people with a disability and those at educational and/or physical risk from harm , neglect or abuse.
Throughout his professional life Ken has had a continuous involvement with and passion for school sport .He has held a range of leadership positions in this area including several years as chair of both Regional and Queensland Sports Council.
Ken continues this involvement and is currently in his second term as President of School Sport Australia and Vice President of the International Schools Sport Federation [ISF] - Oceania Region.
Since 2007 Ken has established a successful consultancy providing leadership and advice to systems, departments and individuals across Australia in a range of educational sporting and leadership related initiatives.
Ken continues to be a passionate advocate for social justice and he firmly believes in the role that education can play in changing the lives of young people especially those challenged by remoteness or social disadvantage.
