Jeff Patrick has worked extensively as a senior consultant for a variety of large complex organisations. He has been involved in needs analyses, organisational climate surveys, programme evaluation, and organisational improvement initiatives that involved the analysis of data from between several hundred to over 15,000 respondents.  Dr Patrick has conducted survey projects across a number of organisations including:

  • Beaudesert Shire Council
  • BHP Billiton
  • Queensland Department of Employment and Industrial Relations
  • Queensland Department of Main Roads
  • Queensland Department of Public Works
  • Queensland Health (a total of 26 Districts across Queensland)
  • Queensland Shared Service Initiative
  • Queensland Transport
  • Queensland Treasury

While Dr Patrick’s technical expertise makes him a leader in this field, he is diligent and articulate in planning and communicating. He takes every opportunity to leverage survey finding to the betterment of clients. For example, in his work undertaking staff surveys with the Queensland Government, he has done more than merely report the findings. He has been repeatedly invited by senior executive to outline what implications the findings have for strategic objectives, business planning, and operational functioning. In this regard Dr Patrick has on a number of occasions in the last few years, briefed the Queensland Under-Treasurer and Executive Management Team (EMT), the Director-General of Queensland Health and EMT, and the Deputy Directors-General of the Department of Public Works (DPW) and their EMT. There have been a number of positive outcomes as a result of Dr Patrick’s direct involvement. For example, DPW have used their staff survey results to inform their current round of business planning.  Queensland Treasury have better managed technological change that was mandated by the Shared Services Initiative. In addition, Queensland Health has been able to target human resource interventions tailored to the particular need of each work unit.
